About Mintaro Cottage

Located in the Clare Valley’s heritage listed Mintaro, Mintaro Cottage is within easy walking distance to the township, and is equipped with everything to make your stay a comfortable one.

Mintaro Cottage was built in 1856 by William and Elizabeth Hunt who were among the earliest settlers in Mintaro. William was Mintaro’s carpenter and undertaker.

Mintaro Cottage and the old building on the southern border (still with a shingle roof under the old, corrugated iron roof) were the workshops of William and later his son John.

Mintaro Cottage was originally the Carpenter's Workshop, then it became a fuel storage depot. The floor was just dirt before its restoration in 1999 to initially become a Natural Health Clinic until it was sold and meticulously converted to Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Over the years improvements have been made and now, Lyndall Rowe and Charles Matheson are embedding their own brand of love on the cottage and gardens

Guests have exclusive use of the studio's – Redwood and Cypress, their courtyards, gardens, and off-street parking. With a mix of natural textures and comfortable furnishings both studio's are warm and inviting.

Mintaro Cottage is where we love to stay when visiting the Clare Valley and is your place to relax and rejuvenate. We hope you fall in love with Mintaro Cottage as we have.
